Elena did really well during the baptism. The ceremony followed the 11:15 mass on Sunday, and she slept through most of that. I feel like we've been pretty lucky that no one seems to mind her sleepy squeaks- sometimes she's louder sleeping than awake! :) Then we had a little time to slip her into the baptismal robe. It was such a special gift that Elena was baptized in a gown that's been in the family for six generations! It literally came over on a covered wagon with my ancestors. Grandma Pat, my dad, and my brother Brian were all baptized in the same outfit. And look how adorable she is in that bonnet! :)
The next weekend marked Elena's one month, or first luna-versary as Adam calls them. In a few days she'll be six weeks old, and that is just crazy to me. Part of me feels like she's been here forever, and the other part feels like we just got home from the hospital last week. I hardly ever know what day it is, but I'm getting better now because people ask how old Elena is all the time. At the grocery store last night no less than three ladies asked to see her (she was snuggled up in her little sling).
That same weekend, two Saturdays ago, also marked another big milestone for our family- the departure of Charlemagne. We had to send him home with my parents because we can't have pets at the next school in Groton. So sad! I have been in mourning for the past few weeks now. I've spent practically every waking moment for the past year with that dog (we got him last year on November 3rd- happy anniversary Charlemagne). The two of us had a lot of bonding time down in Charleston when Adam was putting in 90 hour work weeks (no joke- it was a rough school). The point is that I am unnaturally attached to our fluffy teddy-polarbear skin rug. But he's having a great time at my parent's with their dog Dakota, and I'm very grateful that they were willing to take Charlemagne- enormous ball of fur and energy that he is.
Well, this is as long as I can type one-handed while Elena naps in my lap. Later I'll update you all on the joys of being a Navy family. :) For now, here's a few pictures from the baptism.
This must be a look of relief that she made it through another mass.
